MSD will not be incentivizing new green infrastructure projects for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2017, which ends on June 30th, 2017.
For more information regarding MSD's green infrastructure incentive program, please contact Jordan Basham at firstname.lastname@example.org or 502.540.6634.
Smaller projects may be eligible to receive incentives through Louisville Metro Government's Office of Sustainability. Visit the Office of Sustainability website to learn more.
Going green today means healthy waterways tomorrow. To do so, MSD’s Green Infrastructure Program is focused on utilizing natural or engineered systems that mimic natural processes, like allowing rainwater to soak into the soil before reaching drainage or sewer systems.
MSD’s Green Infrastructure Program locates, builds or incentivizes opportunities for green installations. This lessens the need and the cost of additional infrastructure like storage tanks, large pipes and treatment facilities. It also means decreasing sewer overflows and treatment facility stress. These cost-effective solutions not only save MSD customers money, they also improve local waterway quality.
Just a few of these green infrastructure solutions are:
- Bio-retention basins
- Green roads and alleys
- Permeable pavement sidewalks and parking
- Rain gardens and barrels (see our Rain Garden Plant Guide for gardening ideas)
- Vegetated roofs
